Nyamira County Department of Health services

The Department of Health Services was set up in accordance with section 46 of the County Government Act 2012 to deliver upon the County Government of Nyamira mandate as per the 4th Schedule part 2(2) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, County Governments Act (2012) and related legislations.

The department envisions provision of high quality and affordable health care services of the highest standards to the people of Nyamira County with full cognizance of the health sector’s central role towards the attainment of the aspirations and dreams of the people of Nyamira as contained in the Nyamira County Integrated Development Plan 2013-2018 as well as the Nation’s Vision 2030.

The vision of the department is to achieve a healthy and productive county with equitable access to quality health care and the medium-term achievement of this vision is anchored on the draft Kenya Health Policy Framework 2014-2030 and espoused in the Department of Health Services 2013/14-2017/18 Strategic and Investment Plan.

The Nyamira Healthcare Services Fund Act 2015 and the Nyamira County Referral Policy have been enacted to enable the department smoothly deliver its mandates. Further, several bills, policies, regulations and guidelines are being finalized to ensure that the Department fully delivers upon all its mandates.
